Discovery and adventure have always been a part of mankind and while discoveries in science and technology may be endless, opportunities for discovering new places are becoming rare. Perhaps this is one reason why diving has been one of the fastest growing adventure sports and why so many more are drawn to learn more about it. For many, the rewards of diving extend beyond adventure and exploration. Diving can take you to some of the most exotic destinations in the world, immerse you in new cultures, and open new creative opportunities to help the environment.
The vast majority of people learning to dive earn the entry-level PADI Open Water Diver certification under the supervision of a PADI Instructor. Established in 1966, PADI – the Professional Association of Diving Instructors – is an organization of more then 100,000 professionals and 4000 dive centers and resorts in more then 175 countries and territories around the world. PADI professionals receive support from eight international PADI Offices, each of which provides training and product support, monitors and enforces training practices, records and issues certifications, and promotes diving and diving activities. Issuing the most widely recognized and respected diver credentials, today the PADI family certifies more then 500,000 each year.
Seminole Scuba is pleased to hold credentials as a PADI 5-STAR Dive Center. As such, we are held to the highest standard of excellence in the dive industry today and are authorized to offer the complete suite of PADI training and certifications, along with all the other services PADI provides, from dive travel opportunities to membership in The PADI Diving Society.
So where do you begin? Set your sights on Open Water Certification and sign up for our regularly scheduled classes. Once you sign up, you will receive PADI’s Open Water Crew Pak, the instructional materials you will need to complete some independent study before your first classroom session. Our 2-weekend format calls for classroom and confined water sessions on weekend 1, then your exam and open water sessions on weekend 2. No need to stop there, however. After successfully completing this step, you can proceed directly into Advanced Open Water and a number of specialties as shown below. Our instructors have consistently been ranked as excellent by their instructors, and more importantly, by their students – our customers!
