The 2012 Africa trip was amazing and we all made numerous memories to cherish for a lifetime.
At the first camp we watched as countless elephants of all ages walked and weaved amongst our safari vehicles. The only sound you could hear was the camera shutters as the animals passed their way through the lush landscape of the Lake Manyara preserve.
On our trip to the vast planes of the Serengeti we stopped at a Maasai village along the way where we were permitted to see their way of life, take some photos, and jump with them in their traditional show of strength. On the plains of the Serengeti we experienced some truly amazing moments, watching lions and their cubs devour their afternoon meal, leopards perched lazily upon a cliff top and a pregnant female in a tree, two cheetah siblings, hippos wallowing in their pool with crocodiles and countless wildebeest, impala, giraffes, gazelle, storks, and much more.
In the Ngorongoro crater we were fortunate enough to see 5 rhinos throughout the day, Ostrich mating rituals, more lions with their cubs, hyenas sun bathing near their den with pups, immeasurable zebras, buffalo, eagles, kori bustards, secretary bird and more of the usual suspects!
After safari we flew to the island of Zanzibar, known as the spice island and birth place of Freddie Mercury from the rock band Queen. Here we relaxed on the beach and took great pleasure in diving in the crystal clear azure waters of the Indian Ocean. Diving off the East coast of the island was absolutely stunning. We saw dolphins, grouper, Spanish dancers, oriental sweet lips, lion fish (native to the island), wrasse, turtles, rays, a ton of macro life, and a myriad of colorful hard and soft corals.
We also enjoyed shopping trips into Stone Town, massages and treatments in the extravagant spa, yoga lessons, walks on the beach, amazing meals and walks down the beach. One of our favorite things about Zanzibar is the lack of people and remote feel. It truly is still very much unexplored and untouched without losing the luxury.
Paul and I (Kristen) truly strive to provide a quality trip with unique experiences. After living in East Africa for over 10 years and falling in love with it, we are thrilled to have the opportunity to share it with those interested in experiencing something truly special. Please contact us about group or individual trips and we will be happy to help.
