Australia Northern Expedition Trip November 2027
Where is your sense of adventure? This trip will definitely bring it out in you. We will start the trip flying from Los Angeles to Brisbane then transferring for a night in Cairns. After relaxing for the evening we will take a small flight to Horn Island in the Northern most point of Australia. Once in Horn Island we will transfer to the Spirit of Freedom liveaboard for 7 nights of exploration.
The Northern Expedition trip is only 2 weeks a year as it is set to coincide with mass turtle hatching at Raine Island. This area of the Great Barrier Reef is rarely dived. Raine Island has between 30,000 and 40,000 turtles hatching each year during this two week period so we have a chance to see this incredible event and watch the circle of life as predators also come in for the event.
This seven-night expedition combines exploratory diving with some of the best dive sites in the region. Spend five days diving the Far Northern Reefs and one day on the Ribbon Reefs. Experience diverse underwater landscapes, including deep oceanic walls with gorgonians and soft corals, pristine coral gardens, and isolated pinnacles, caves, and canyons. Encounter various species of sharks, rays, turtles, pelagic fish, and diverse macro life. From October to March, thousands of green sea turtles return to the islands to nest, making the surrounding waters active with turtles.
After 7 nights we return to Cairns for an overnight before some of the group leave to head back to Brisbane to meet the international flights home. The rest of the group will spend another night in Cairns before flying to Uluru (Ayers Rock) in central Australia for 2 nights.
Whilst in Uluru we will explore the Uluru Kata Tjuta National Park, Kata Tjuta, Talinguru
Nyakunytjaku, Piti Pass, Walpa Gorge, and Mutitjulu Waterhole. This will give us a chance to see the natural wonders of this area as well and seeing the incredible Aboriginal history and sacred sites. Sunris
e and Sunset will be around Uluru itself with incredible photo opportunities as the red glow hits the red rock. We will stay at the Desert Gardens Hotel with is known for its incredible gardens of native Australian fauna.

From there we fly onto Sydney for 2 nights touring the famous sites of the city including a Habor boat hop on and off pass and the Opera House tour. From Sydney we fly back to the Los Angeles.

Due to the exploration nature of this trip we require all divers to be Advanced Open Water with Nitrox and at least 60 logged dives with experience of current.

DIVE AND TRIP INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS
All divers participating in the Seminole Scuba International Travel Trips are required to show proof of current dive accident insurance from a recognized and reputable carrier. Evacuation coverage must be included in your policy.
We highly recommend that you purchase trip insurance as well to help recoup non-refundable deposits and trip costs in the event that you need to cancel your reservation. Some locations require this but we suggest it for all our clients as we travel to remote locations.
Diver’s Alert Network offers both Travel and Dive Accident Insurance and are our recommended option. You can use the links below to obtain these options.
