THAILAND 2022

We had an excellent trip to Thailand in April 2022. Whilst Thailand was still under Covid protocals they were easing and that made it easier. There were a few hiccups along the way with lost luggage (Thanks Jet Blue!) but we all made it work. 

We were met by the incredible crew of the M/Y Phinisi at the dock in Phuket where we boarded and met Neil our cruise director for the trip. He explained all the plans we had for the week and that afternoon we motored out to the Similan islands arriving early in the morning in time for a checkout dive on the Tsunami Memorial reef there. From the begining the reefs were beautiful and the water was nice and clear. For the next 5 days we continued north diving 4 times a day and getting fed like royalty by the incredible Chef/Housekeeper. We had crossed into the Surin Islands by this stage and it seemed the further north we went the better the diving got. We had lots more fish further north as well as tons of Nudibranchs and turtles. 

From the Surin Islands we headed East to Richelieu Rock for the best of the weeks dives. We dove 7 times around Richelieau and no dive was the same. There are some strong currents but the reef was alive with life. We encountered everything from Tigertail Seahorses to Harlequin Shrimp. The reef was a haven for Nudibranchs, Shrimp and Pipefish also. But the most incredible part was the masses of fish, with schools of all sizes covering the reef. 

The M/Y Phinisi was a fantastic boat and a great home for our group. The hospitality was excellent and the food was the best we have had on any liveaboard. We will definitely be going back so look out for our next Thailand adventure.
