Africa 2022
Our almost annual trip to Africa was another incredible experience in November 2022 when 21 of us toured Kenya and Zanzibar. We all started in Nairobi for an evening before heading north to the foot of Mt Kenya (Africas 2nd highest mountain) where we started our safari with Porini camps. We visited the Ol Pejeta conservancy staying at Rhino Camp. The Ol Pejeta conservancy is known for its incredible Rhino population which is actually growing so fast they are having to relocate and repopulate other areas. Ol Pejeta also has the last 2 remaining Northern White Rhinos in the World that they are trying to use to repopulate that species. Whilst there we also saw lots of Elephants, Lions, Hyenas, Eland, Buffalo and massive herds of antelope.
After Ol Pejeta we flew south to the Masaai Mara to stay at Porini Lion camp where we were very lucky with some incredible sightings of Leopards with cubs, Cheetahs, tons of Lions, Elephants, Hippos, Buffalo and enormous Nile Crocodiles. This group was lucky with an incredible safari seeing so much of what Kenyan wildlife has to offer but there was more.
From the Masaai Mara we headed back to Nairobi then onto Zanzibar to the beautiful Breezes Beach Club and Spa which Paul and Kristen called home for 11 years. We had an incredible 6 days of diving with Rising Sun Dive center being looked after by Kiri, gaga and the excellent team there. We were lucky enough to see lots of Seahorses, turtles, frogfish, nudibranchs, mating balls of snake eels and many other fish. Paul was lucky enough to see a Rhinopas that he has never seen before. Zanzibar is a beautiful island with many incredible sites but we focused more on the diving only venturing into Stone Town for one day.
If you didnt join us come and join us for one of these amazing Africa trips!
